Question: What file types do you accept?
Answer: We accept print-ready files in .JPG, .TIF, .PDF, .PSD and .EPS formats. Macintosh users must add this 3 letter file extension before upload. If you place order by phone, please save your file CD, DVD or Zip disk and send or mail it to our main office address at 2096 Merced Street, San Leandro, CA 94577.

Question: What is the lowest resolution you accept?
Answer: The file(s) must be at least 300 dots per inch (dpi) at the final output size.

Question: What is the maximum file size?
Answer: The maximum file size we accpet is 30MB. If your file size is bigger than this, we recommend you to convert your file into jpg format with 300dpi before upload. The speed directly depends on the file size and your internet connection. A small file may take few minutes to upload, while a large 30MB file may need around 30min to upload. Number of programs running on your computer also affects the speed of upload, so we recommend you to quit other running programs before you start to upload.

Question: Do you accept files in RGB color mode?
Answer: No. RGB is the primary color model used by electronic display devices (e.g., monitors). CMYK is the primary color model used by color printers. There are many RGB colors that CMYK printers cannot reproduce. Something that looks good on the monitor may not look the same when printed. Therefore, in order to maximize the color quality and accuracy, please make sure to convert file from RGB to CMYK before upload.

Question: Can I file contains layers?
Answer: No. File that contains layers may cause problem in file conversion for preview purpose. Please flatten all layers before upload. For Illustrator files, outline all fonts and save file as eps format (check box "include link files" if there is any link images, all link files must be tif, psd or jpg to avoid link error) before upload.

Question: Does my artwork have 0.25" bleeds?
Answer: Files' size must be set to be final size. For example, if your order size is 4"x6", you need to set document's size to be 4"x6" with approximately 0.25" bleeds all around and the file(s) must contain cropmark in order to get proper image for preview.

Question: What are product templates?
Answer: Yes. Proxprint provided templates for around 20 products with different sizes. The templates help designers to create print-ready files in EPS and PDF format. Each template provides detailed information including size, layout, bleed area, safety margin, folding and mailing guidelines. To download templates, please go to downloadable templates.

Question: Do I have to use a template proxprint provided to prepare my artwork?
Answer: No. If you are or have an experienced designer, you can use any resources to create a design as long as it meets our artwork requirements.

Question: How can I upload files for multi-page products?
Answer: For multi-page products, such as booklets, newsletters or catalog, please convert your files into one PDF file first before you start to upload.

Question: How can I prepare files with 5th color?
Answer: Preferred file is adobe illustrator EPS format. All images or text in metallic silver or Fluorescent orange MUST be in SPOT color not CMYK. All font must be outlined and placed images must be embedded. File provided in Adobe Photoshop MUST be saved in PSD format with two layers. All images or text in metallic silver or Fluorescent orange MUST be in one layer. All images in CMYK color must be in one layer.
